1) The type faces on the front of the magazine show that this isn't a magazine that is focused selling a large amount of magazines but rather focus on dealing on issues and problems that women face.

2) The words under the title show that the magazine is focused on targeting and addressing a female audience.

3) The cover lines are short and to an extent ambiguous making the reader more likely to continue on reading the magazine in order to get the answers to the questions.

4) The central image shows a woman with minimal make-up, wearing full clothing and also has a sense of gender fluidity as the woman's feminine features aren't completely focused on.

5) A representation of gender that can be show by the magazine is gender fluidity as it has hard to discern on whether the woman has feminine features.

Feature: Speaking Out

1) The headline states "Power and poise, Words of hard-won wisdom and Surprisingly strong things" which shows the magazine is focused on empowering women and has a feminine perspective on things that are included in the magazine.

2) The values and ideologies shown by the interviewees show that the magazine not only wants to empower women but to also show and highlight problems that face today such as Female Genital Mutilation.

3) This page design is unconventional as it doesn't have big words that are trying to catch the attention of the reader in order to persuade them into buying things. Oh Comely uses a minimal page design which allows them to do things such as getting their point across.

4) Firstly, women's bodies aren't objectified such as the front cover isn't of a women in minimal clothing and rather focusing on petty things such as losing weight tips, it highlights and emphasises on real world problems such as Female Genital Mutilation.

5) The photography seems to show the women untouched by Photoshop and are in their natural state.


Feature: More than gender


1) This feature focuses on things such as gender and identity and the different views on it. It also shows the impact it can have on peoples and detailing the issues and problems they could possibly face or undergo.

2) The writer and photographer is the sister to person who underwent the gender transformation and by making her the writer, it allows the reader to see through her perspective and see her views on the transformation.

3) The style of photography that is used shows the two people that are included in this feature and doesn't go overboard in terms of photography or showing the people.

4) The representations of trans life that can be shown are the idea of gender fluidity and the fact that the transgender doesn't refer to themselves as "he" or "she".

5) The biographical information at the end of the article is significant as it shows the sister showing her views but also showing how her sister reverted back to a women.

The costume the man is wearing a black jacket, the colour black represented mystery, evil and death which can foreshadow what happens later to the man clarifying the shocked look on his face.
