They've both been accused by British police of being two spies. They claim they are fearful for their lives and say that they were only in Salisbury because they wanted to visit Stone Henge.
4) This might appeal to an audience due to the increase of political issues which involve Russian. Also, people tend to have a negative view on the Russian government and if there is a story of two supposed assassins that entered the country that might intrigue people as one of the aspects that newspapers use in order to sell issues is danger or threat which is when newspapers make it seem as though there is threat the can affect you and your daily life and because of this anyone would be intrigued to read the news story.
