The death of print media

The death of print media

1) 30 years ago, the newspaper industry was successful however 30 years later its starting to decline.

2) The Independent has started to fall prey to the decline in the newspaper industry allowing it to be used further evidence and proof that the print industry is indeed dying.

3) The Independent was famous for supposedly being  "free from political bias, free from proprietorial influence".

4) Evgeny Lebdev states that " the ceasing of a printed version was a bold transition
to a digital-only future."

5) Online newspapers make money through adverts in their website.

6) Simon Kelner stated that "For me, the power of the Independent came from the variety of voices, the originality in its design and the iconoclastic feel of the paper. It is very difficult to replicate that in digital form. And it is even more difficult to do that with a paper like the Independent."

7) Fake news can be used by newspapers through doing things such as "exaggeration and absurd content for comedic purposes" although this might not be considered fake news it could considered fake news if a large audience was to view it.

8) My views on the decline of print media is that obviously going to happen as every industry either goes out of business or either tries to revolutionise how they work which would allow them to survive. The print industry try to do this by making their news story appear on websites which not only allows them survive but to also to pander to their audience.
